Black Light Burns
Black Light Burns is an American rock band. The band consists of Wes Borland and various studio and live contributors. Formed in 2005, Black Light Burns has released two studio albums, Cruel Melody and Cover Your Heart and the Anvil Pants Odyssey.
History
After forming Black Light Burns, Wes Borland recorded a series of demos, and would later permanently serve as the band's lead vocalist.[1] In 2007, the band released its début album, Cruel Melody, which featured appearances by Nine Inch Nails member Danny Lohner playing bass, keyboardist Joshua Eustis, and drummer Josh Freese.[1] The album was the first release by Ross Robinson's independent record label, I Am: Wolfpack.[1] Allmusic writer Greg Prato wrote about this album, "For many, Borland was the only Limp Bizkit member who was taken seriously. As evidenced by Cruel Melody, he is now officially allowed to follow whichever musical path he so desires."[2]
Because none of the album's contributors were willing to tour with Borland, he hired guitarist Nick Annis, bassist Sean Fetterman and drummer Marshall Kilpatric as Black Light Burns' touring band.[1]
